How to avoid muddy colours

Today I spent some time creating swatches with watercolour. Remember I talked about this before?

I find it really helpful creating you own colour chart because you can quickly see how you make the right mix with the fewest colours. Perhaps you recognise the situation where you overwork a painting because you keep mixing and mixing without getting the colour you want?

I regular plate works really well as a palette.

My watercolour tubes come from Winsor & Newton and Schmincke. The hue called Brilliant Opera Rose from Schmincke is my new favourite.
